A good handyman won’t mind a single one of these — and asking them takes five minutes.
- Are you insured? If something gets damaged or someone gets hurt, their cover is what protects you both.
- How do you charge? Hourly with a minimum, flat per job, or a fixed call-out? Surprises come from vague pricing, not high pricing — get the structure clear up front.
- What happens if the job turns out bigger than it looked? The right answer involves a quote you approve before extra work begins.
- Is the price confirmed before you start? And what counts as included — travel, the first hour, materials?
- Can I see recent reviews or references? Steady local work leaves a trail.
Any hesitation on the first four is information in itself.
For the record: CMG Bridge charges one fixed $125 call-out (first hour and travel within 10 miles included), quotes extra work in writing before it starts, serves Staten Island only, Monday to Saturday. FAQ page or handyman@cmgbridge.com for anything else.
